GOP Purge To Be Complete Tuesday
The percentage of eligible Idahoans who vote in a primary election has hovered between 17.7 percent and 16.8 percent for almost a decade.
That’s one in six.
And it’s going to drop further Tuesday. Anyone choosing to
vote in the Republican primary will be compelled to register as a GOP loyalist. Whatever their leanings, you can bet some people just are independent and cantankerous enough to stay home as a protest. Others may feel they have no choice but to abstain. For some - government staffers, faculty members, teachers, journalists, judges and business owners — stating a party preference in a public document may be just too high a price to pay to exercise their franchise.
