KCres: Cda High Yearbook Flap
We got an email yesterday from CHS saying that the senior photos for the class of 2013 yearbook would have to conform to new standards. My son then got home and was full of how outraged the students were. Many had already spent lots of cash on their photos taken by photographers at the school recently, and were very unhappy to think that this money had been wasted.
The feeling of the students was that this change was handed down by the district trustees, flexing their puritanical muscles. Hopefully Tom Hamilton just happens to pass by today, maybe he can set the record straight.
The email contains the following.
“The yearbook is a historical and LEGAL document of how the students look. Many high schools have gone to 100% cap and gown or are having the boys in tuxedo tops and girls in black drape/top to have a consistent look to the book. CHS will not be doing this.
Since the yearbook is a publication of the school, what is in it needs to follow school dress codes. This includes shoulders covered, all parts covered that need to be covered, etc.”
Legal document, really?????
Yikes! Were parents really submitting pics of their kids improperly attired? What do you think about the new yearbook guidelines?
