Bent’s broken, still BBQ-ing
In the Wild Card Bent gives us an update on his injury and on the status of all things yummy. I hope he didn’t hurt himself just cuz he knew how left out I felt when all of you were devouring bbq goodness while I slaved away in Spokane.
Bent writes: get it, I’m hurt. When I got home from cooking last night my right arm was 3 times larger than the left and it took me 45 minutes to shave this morning. But, I also realize that I have overhead now and I can’t just shut things down while I heal. So, my solution is that I won’t necessarily have a full menu for the next few days and I’m going to spend this time solidifying my menu, getting my order system set, securing my supply lines, and training staff. While I do this, I will have limited amounts of the basic menu items and specials sandwiches and dishes that we are perfecting. In addition, as long as I have some advance notice, I can easily cook anything you want by special order. Use my cell phone for now and in a couple days I will have a local number (509-220-2222).
I appreciate all the support from my fans and I don’t want to disappoint anyone but sometimes things happen beyond our control and in this case I’m thinking it might even be a good thing. Probably not cash-wise, but certainly quality-wise. I’m hoping within a week or two I can hold my grand opening and provide a steady flow of Bent’s Barbecue with the consistency and quality that you all expect from me. So, seriously call me with your special orders and don’t forget with notice I can even deliver office lunches and special events. I’d hoped for a smoother soft opening but in the im,mortal words of Forest Gump “Life is like a box of chocolate…you never know what you’re gonna get”.
