Assessing the damage on the morning after Utah

COUGARS

FROM SALT LAKE CITY — I’m boarding a couple flights later today and will arrive in Spokane later this afternoon, then make the drive to Pullman, then attend what all of a sudden looks like it should be a pretty interesting practice. Read on for links from yesterday’s proceedings.

We will start with our newspaper coverage, which, as usual, includes our game story , a notebook , our keys to the game and our scoring summary . On the blog, we had video of the bizarre postgame happenings, from Mike Leach’s comments, to those of the offensive line, and those of the defensive line. I’ve heard a lot of strong opinions, on both sides, of Leach’s decision to send both lines out to be interviewed. Shows how divisive a season like this can get. … Bud Withers says Leach needs to look at himself , too, and has an additional story and a 2-minute drill. … Howie Stalwick has this story in the Kitsap Sun. … From Utah: The Utes wanted a shutout, but were pleased that they still “killed” WSU. Some notes from the Utah side, where Reggie Dunn set an NCAA record and the Utes healed themselves . Utah is on a modest winning streak now.

In other Pac-12 action …

Stanford 48, Colorado 0 — The result was expected, but the big news here is the Cardinal using Kevin Hogan as its primary quarterback. Colorado is still terrible .

Oregon 62, USC 51 — The Ducks set a whole bunch of records as they piled up 730 yards. USC just didn’t have an answer , even as Matt Barkley put up some big numbers of his own.

UCLA 66, Arizona 10 — A shockingly lopsided win for the Bruins, and a sobering fall back to reality for Arizona.

Oregon State 36, Arizona State 26 — The Beavers used a big second half to win this one. Big plays cost the Sun Devils.

Time to fly. We’ll be back tonight after practice.
