Signs point the wrong way
As I drive, bike and walk the corridors and arterials of Spokane, I am assaulted by the gigantic political endorsement signs in front of businesses, vacant lots and apartment buildings.
This is a case of the 1 percent telling the 99 percent of us what candidates will best serve the interests of the rich.
Do we want our precious tax dollars spent on tax breaks or settlements to developers, or do we want better schools, well-maintained parks and livable wages?
As my favorite president, Franklin D. Roosevelt, said, “The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”
Please join me in using those huge signs as a guide to decide for whom to vote.
