Branden: Keep Charity Deduction

On his Facebook wall, Branden Durst, Idaho representative-elect from Boise, writes:

“Fiscal Cliff — There has been a lot of talk about how to avoid the so-called “fiscal cliff.” If it were up to me, I’d take the the idea of limiting deductions for charitable giving off the table. Charitable giving supports an infrastructure of faith based and community programs that are vital to social service safety net. If this deduction is curtailed in anyway the impact will be very regressive.”

Question: Would you contribute to charities/churches, if you couldn’t deduct that contribution?
