This image of birch trees on a winter night was created by a second-grader, Benicio Avila of Lewiston, who goes to Orchards Elementary School. It’s been selected as the grand prize winner in the State Department of Education’s 2012 Holiday Card Contest, and will be featured on cards sent to schools, districts and others.
