PYP Meeting Attracts SRO Crowd
The Coeur d’Alene School Board hearing on the controversial Primary Years Programme at Hayden Meadows attracted a standing-room-only crowd that remained for four hours Monday night. As expected, the School Board voted unanimously to eliminate the program at the end of the 2012-13 school year. Christa Hazel, reporting for Huckleberries Online, provided a real-time report on the testimony, including this snippet by board Chairman Tom Hamilton’s wife:
Mrs. Hamilton just said that she transferred her (and the Board Chair’s) child to Dalton last week. The Hamiltons made this decision after hearing what was referenced as their “child’s name being dragged through the mud by pro-PYP parents and staff.” Mrs. Hamilton spoke highly of Dalton Elementary. She noted that she has not seen a single “knuckle dragging moron” at Dalton. She also stated that Hayden Meadows has some seriously “venomous” staff members that should be dealt with.
