Fred Meyer news upsetting

I was very upset to hear that Fred Meyer on Francis Avenue will be closing on Jan. 31. This makes the second major store on the north side of town to close in less than a year. It was preceded by the closure of Kmart. It was even more distressing to learn that the reason for this latest closure was inability to negotiate a rental agreement for the property.

How short-sighted of the owner of this property and Fred Meyer to take away a major store serving the north side and to add 180-plus employees to the unemployment rolls. When we discuss helping the economy, it is irresponsible to take these kinds of actions.
