Edit: Why Silence On Luna Laws?
At the Lewiston Tribune, opionator Marty Trillhaase wonders why no Republican legislators or GOP legislative candidates are talking little about the Luna Laws and the three referendums to repeal them:
Makes you wonder if they’re hearing unsettling news on the campaign trail, doesn’t it? Getting an answer from prospective lawmakers is no mere trivial matter. Presumably, these legislators and candidates know a lot of the details about these ideas. Where they stand may help voters decide for themselves. Besides, they will sort out what happens next - either by refining the Luna package or replacing it. Arguably, the Legislature elected this fall will be more conservative than the body that enacted Luna’s package. If voters retain the overhaul, how will those lawmakers implement the measures? What’s next on their school reform agenda? More here.
Question: Do you think Superintendent Luna, Gov Butch Otter and other top Republicans have more reform measures in store for our public schools if Propositions 1-3 survive the election?
