Smart choice for facts

I want to put a plug in for information put out by Project Vote Smart, an organization whose founding members include Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, George McGovern and Barry Goldwater. As you can tell by the founders, this is a nonpartisan organization. It is based on the belief that the public should know how their representatives have voted on the laws set before them.

Just go to votesmart.org and type in the (national, state or local) candidate’s name. It gives the candidate’s voting record on each bill. Click on the name of the bill and it gives an explanation, which is important because many of the bills have misleading names. It also gives the interest groups’ ratings – both liberal and conservative – and the candidates’ biographies, endorsements, where they stand on issues and public statements they have made.

No rhetoric, no back-biting, just the facts.
