Fall from grace bipartisan

Dana Milbank (“Divine hand could doom GOP,” Aug 23) links House Republicans’ frolic in the Sea of Galilee with Rep. Todd Akin’s remarks. And with the forecast of a Hurricane Isaac heading toward the Republican convention in Tampa, asked if God had forsaken the Republican Party.

Why target Republicans? Perhaps a bigger question regarding certain past few years’ weather events (severe droughts, floods, wildfires, more droughts, etc.) and social and economic woes of our great nation can be seen in the mirror, links to actions (and inactions) of Republicans and Democrats in Congress, the judicial branch, and the current administration’s opinions and decrees, and even to petty, selfish and sometimes spiteful preferences of our media and we citizenry.

Coincidence? Intelligent design? The intelligent designer removing a protective hand, allowing the laws of nature and humanity to be consequential?
