Arpie: My Kingdom For A Pencil
Arpie, a Bonner County teacher, discusses a school supply problem that he faces annually:
“Pencils are the biggest pain in my third grade classroom. I do ask for “2-3 dozen pencils as a class supply” at the beginning
of each year. 30 years of experience tells me this is usually what a kid will go through during the year. Getting them at the beginning and then sharing them is way so much easier than telling a kid to tell his parents that he needs more pencils and then figuring out what to do with the kid who doesn’t have a pencil. I never realized until today that I might be a Communist. Our PTA has bucked up big time as well. They now fund most of our school’s field trips. They have also paid for a laminator and many other supplies that used to be picked up by the district. This might make a good story for Betsy, What are PTA’s spending money on around the state?”
Question: Have you ever donated supplies for a student to a local school?
