Middle East Protests Against US

Angry demonstrations against an anti-Islam film shot in the United States spread to their widest extent yet around the Middle East and other Muslim countries Friday, as protesters smashed into the German Embassy in the Sudanese capital, and security forces in Egypt and Yemen fired tear gas and clashed with protesters to keep them away from U.S. embassies. An embassy worker in Khartoum told CBS News that there are a thousand protestors outside and the number is growing. Police are reportedly using tear gas against stone-throwing demonstrators. The protesters have so far not been able to get into the compound but they are trying, the worker said; police are holding them back/AP. More here. Question: Remind me again — why are we protecting these barbarians in the Middle East, at the cost of American lives?
