Weekend Wild Card — 9.15-16.12

I plan to ride my bike down to the waterfront today to check out work on McEuen Field. I’ve seen the photos of heavy equipment removing the dugouts on the old American Legion Baseball diamond on Facebook. And workers removing the chain-link backstops. I was on hand, of course, when city/LCDC/Team McEuen broke ground on the field on Monday. It’ll be interesting to see what the new McEuen looks like at this time next year. The state of the field — and how the public warms up to it — may be a deciding factor in the 2013 City Council elections in which the four people who supported the makeover and survived the recall will be up for re-election.
