Buy American to create jobs

How utterly humorous that so many believe that any candidate for president or Congress can wave a magic wand and put tens of millions of unemployed back to work. While we were out shopping and purchasing cheaper foreign manufactured goods, millions of manufacturing jobs were migrating overseas.

As investments soured and financial security for retirement decreased, millions of Americans chose to continue to work beyond their planned retirement, which decreased employment opportunities for young Americans entering the job market.

The greatest contributing factor, which is far beyond any body of government or any elected official’s ability to resolve, is the world’s failing economy. Additionally, has anybody noticed that automation has taken away millions of jobs, and will continue to subtract more as technology and engineering advance further. Eight percent-plus unemployment is likely the new bottom figure, and growing, as all of these factors increase.

The only opportunity that can increase employment for Americans is a conviction by all Americans to purchase American-manufactured autos, appliances, electronics, sportswear, etc. Americans can proudly wave their flags in wartime and at sports events, but how many of us will stand together when our economy is going down the drain?
