Goodson thriving at Baylor

Demetri Goodson, right, started 68 of 69 games in his last two seasons with Gonzaga's basketball team. (Dan Pelle)

When players have left Gonzaga’s program over the years — and there have been plenty of them — 95 percent of the comments I hear are from Zags fans worried that the player will turn into a star elsewhere and come back to haunt GU.

That wasn’t the case with Demetri Goodson. “Meech” left basketball, and opted to play football at Baylor. I caught up with Goodson last week and here’s an article that ran in Tuesday’s S-R. He’s from a football family, older brother Mike is with the Raiders, a younger brother is just finishing up at Klein Collins High and is being recruiting by Big 12 schools, and a half-brother left Georgia and is finishing up as a safety at South Carolina State. Goodson, as always, was up front, saying he felt his best chance for future earnings was in football, not basketball.
