Adopt FairTax

We hear candidate comments on the redistribution of wealth and Americans not paying income tax. These comments highlight our broken income tax system. Our nation is suffering, especially 1.7 million young Americans ages 18-29 who have been jobless for the past year. The problem is a complicated, manipulated system of taxation.

A solution to this failure may lie in changing the tax system. A promising new proposed system of taxation is the FairTax, a comprehensive plan to replace federal income and payroll taxes with a consumption tax on new goods and services. It pays each household a monthly check to make sure everyone may consume tax-free up to the poverty level. This check makes the FairTax progressive.

H.R. 25 proposes a FairTax in which consumers will pay the actual price of new products or services, plus tax. Workers keep 100 percent of their wages minus state or local taxes. The FairTax does provide hope for bringing thousands of lost jobs back to the United States, April 15 becomes just another day, and we know and control the taxes we pay.
