Regan: Woulda Come If Invited
In today’s letters to the editor in the Coeur d’Alene Press, Trustee Brent Regan responds to criticism by Sorensen Magnet School fund-raising chairman Adam Graves re: lack of trustees at auction:
Mr. Graves, regarding your My Turn of March 30. I cannot speak for the other trustees, but I can
say that I would have made every effort to attend, had I been invited. This was one of your responsibilities as chairman. As we are not clairvoyants, the board cannot be held responsible for failing to fulfill your unspoken desires. Furthermore, had I shown up uninvited I could be criticized for attempting to take credit where none is due. I would point out that the board recently conducted a Community Chat at Sorensen where parents, teachers and students could discuss topics of interest to them directly with the board. More here.
Question: Izzit just me, or do Coeur d’Alene school trustees show far more passion re: responding to Graves’ criticism re: lack of attendance at a fundraiser than they did in (not) responding to a 20-page parents’ complaint re: dropping the PYP program at Hayden Meadows?
