BigMac: Not all parenting equal

Avatar

BigMac Not all parenting is equal. I hold my students to high standards (all mine are college prep classes), and I require all my students to perform. Most parents are OK with that. A highly vocal minority always wants my head on a platter for failing their darling child.

It’s a trade off. If you want high standards, you have to accept that many students will not meet those standards. It doesn’t matter how good the teacher is; if the parents are undermining the teacher at home, the teacher cannot succeed.

Really good point. Have you ever complained that a teacher had too high of standards? Or do you wish teachers had higher standards?
