Eastwood To Retire

You know you’re getting older when a long-time friend pulls the plug on a wonderful career. Just got a note from City Hall employee, announcing a retirement party for Coeur d’Alene Parks & Cemetery Director Doug Eastwood. Not only do I respect Doug for his 35 years of service for the city, which includes overhauling and vastly expanding the Coeur d’Alene parks system, but also value him as a personal friend. We attended church and played softball together. If you look up public servant in the dictionary, you’ll find a photo of Doug Eastwood. He and Steve Anthony come as close as you can get in public service to the term irreplaceable. His retirement part will be from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23. Doug’s last day of city service will be Aug. 30.
