Sore throat calls?

Hold the 911 phone! Your Aug. 6 article stated that the new one-person SUV units would respond to sore throat calls (I assume via 911) that do not involve breathing problems. Why on earth are our tax dollars being used to respond to sore throats and rashes? I agree using one-person SUV units is far better than sending out three-person firetruck units, but why would we send either?

Who is making the decision to send emergency crews to non-emergencies? What happens to the person who has a heart attack or the child who has stopped breathing and really needs an emergency paramedic while this SUV unit is treating a sore throat? Please stop the insanity!
