Letter: Cda salaries way out of line
In a letter to the editor in yesterday’s CdA Press, Frank Burnette writes:
Am I the only one outraged after reading The Press article that listed some of the salaries paid to city department heads? $100,012 for the library director… REALLY?
A parks director and a recreation director who make $100,012 each… REALLY? Everyplace I’ve lived it’s called Parks & Rec, with one director!
As our area continues to struggle with unemployment and low wages — $8-$10/hour — I believe I will not be the only person to state that these wages are way out of line. Other cities pay more? Fine, apply there and I guarantee you we can fill your old $100,012 job with someone dedicated and hardworking for way less.
Between the money pit downtown currently under construction and the above example of government waste and excess, we have to work toward reforming government in the next election. “We will remember in November!”
Are city salaries out of line?
