Act like Christians
The Aug. 12 paper featured the story of the Union Gospel Mission purchasing a used car lot. While this is a means of providing jobs for people, such as Ashlee Milenewicz, it is also a sad sign of our times that the UGM felt it necessary to supplement their donations in this manner.
In this same issue, James Becker made the observation that the media are specifically targeting anyone who is living by Christian principles. This UGM purchase is just one indication that our nation is growing colder. Our callousness is further evidenced by the plethora of unnecessary abortions taking place throughout America.
Joe Lang (Aug. 10) and others go on about a woman’s right to govern her own body. They say nothing about the rights of the child. Lang and company may be interested in knowing that “Jane Roe” has been spending the last 20-odd years fighting to have Roe v. Wade overturned.
As I have stated, in other letters, we need to return to our Christian roots. The UGM should not have had to resort to such drastic measures just to provide basic needs for the downtrodden. Those of you who call yourselves Christians should act like it.
