Joker: Rich vs Rich

In yesterday’s thread about salary disparity Joker said:

“I am not defending Mary Souza, but the whole debate about insiders versus outsiders is plain silly. It’s rich people versus rich people. That’s why people on this blog don’t take Amber Copeland seriously. You and others have asked what has she done to be qualified. Well, she’s not rich, she doesn’t play the game because she’s not invited to hobnob at the after hours events or sip wine at Bardenay. Nor does she hang out at Fedora or play golf with John Goedde. People like Amber have no chance because they don’t have the money to get into the game.”

Do you agree? Is politics, even on a local level a rich person’s game?
