Chief Longo To The Rescue
You’ve heard the story re: the individual who made a false report re: a bogus hostage incident on S10th Street in Coeur d’Alene. But you might not have heard how Police Chief Wayne Longo came to the rescue later:
About a half an hour after this incident the male — Roger L. Lane, 29, of Coeur d’Alene, approached a female in the construction area parking at 7th and Mullan. The 27 year-old female is 9 months pregnant. She was waiting in her car to give her husband (a construction worker) his lunch. Lane opened her passenger side door and asked if he could get in. She told him no and to shut her door. He did so but then opened the door again and tried to get in. The females husband saw what was happening and came to her aid. One of his friends also came with him. Lane shoved her husband and told them he would fight both of them. Chief Longo was exiting a meeting a City Hall and was first on scene to handcuff and detain Lane. He attempted to flee with his handcuffs on and fell while running. Lane was charged with battery, trespass, and resisting/obstructing. Just another day at the office for the Chief!/ Sgt. Christie Wood , Coeur d’Alene Police Department.
Question: Dunno about you, but I’m going to miss Wayne Longo when he retires as chief.
