Lewiston Jurors To Get 5-fold Raise

Ah, 1968.  Prague’s spring was in full bloom, the Beatles were still together and Nez Perce County jurors got the last bump in their daily rate — to $10 — to serve the cause of justice.  Forty-five years later, the Lewiston Tribune reports the local county commission has decided to lift the compensation again.  After Monday’s vote, those helping decide the innocence or guilt of defendants at the Nez Perce County Courthouse will see their per-diem pay rise five-fold to $50.  Half-day service will jump to $25, from just $5/ Associated Press .
