Local GOP Wants End Of Prez Caucus
The Kootenai County Republican Central Committee is asking the state GOP to end the presidential caucus due to cost and voter disenfranchisement. In a resolution passed earlier this fall, the county GOP is asking the party’s state organization to support the return to the May presidential primary. The resolution explains: “Many Republican County Central Committees were forced to spend precious dollars on the caucus rather than support local and state candidates.” Also, it said, m”many Republican votes were disenfranchised and could not or did not participate in the caucus.” The purpose of the caucus was to make Idaho relevant in the presidential primary, which attracted visitis from presidential candidates and early voting. Full resolution here.
Question: Which would you support for the Idaho GOP — the current presidential caucus or the previous presidential primary?
