Temp Parking Signs Set Up On Front

There seems to be some confusion among downtown motorists parking near McEuen Park along Front Avenue. Under city ordinance, parking downtown is free for the first two hours. Parking along newly rebuilt Front Avenue provides for those same 2-hour restrictions, as it always has. Motorists are subject to citations for overtime violations. There is a city appeals process for those who feel they were wrongly ticketed. City street crews today installed temporary 2-hour parking signs on Front Avenue between Third and Fourth streets and Sixth and Seventh streets. Permanent 2-hour parking signs will soon be placed on street light poles along the street. In an effort to expedite opening of Front for the convenience of businesses and those who visit downtown, the street was opened before those poles were installed. Meantime, motorists are reminded that there is no parking allowed on Fourth Street between Sherman Avenue and Front Avenue. Fourth includes two 14-foot traffic lanes with no room for parking. Those who park along the one-block stretch will be ticketed as this poses a hazard/ Keith Erickson , Coeur d’Alene Today.
