Bloem: What Vision Is All About

MikeK ( Mayor delivers final State of the City address ): When the children who are being born today at the hospital are studying in the Education Corridor, working at the Kroc Center for spending money and life experience, riding their bikes safely from the Landings to NIC without crossing major highways, and enjoying a movie and ice cream in Riverstone while they dream big about their future, they will most likely not be thinking about Sandi Bloem. But her focus and leadership ensured that the things they will one day take for granted actually became reality even though a lesser person might have quit because those things were also very hard to do. In short, her legacy will be as the most positively impactful mayor this city has ever had. More below

Question: Coeur d’Alene has had 5 mayors in my almost 30 years reporting on the community — Jim Fromm, Ray Stone (2 terms), Al Hassell, Steve Judy and Sandi Bloem (3 terms). How would you rank them in order of accomplishment?

As a side note, not one of those future children I referenced will be talking about controversies or recalls. They’ll just be exploring the opportunities provided by countless positive community building people who during an important time entrusted their future to Sandi Bloem. That’s what vision is all about.
