Clark’s gutter journalism

Doug Clark’s description of the Police Department as “the city’s powerful organized crime cabal” and likening all police officers as members of “La Coppa Nostra” is nothing more than gutter journalism. We can support or oppose the citizens ombudsman initiative (I support it) without the false and libelous description of all members of the Police Guild.

Although never a member of the department, I have worked with our police in the past and I still believe the overwhelming majority are honest, dedicated public servants who do not deserve Clark’s diatribe.

The management of the paper is not free from criticism either. Does the paper put any limits on the writings of its columnists? Very little, apparently.
