God guided Founding Fathers

The smug elitists assert that only the backward dolt believes in God. When asked, Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights …”

From this humble document and the Constitution that followed, the world became witness to the greatest civilization ever created, and one that the downtrodden would seek out for two centuries; for the freedom to worship God in their own way and to prosper under a just national government.

“In God We Trust” is on our coins. We celebrate Christmas, a federal holiday, as well as federal national days of prayer. The Congress has honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, with a federal holiday.

In Article VII, paragraph two, the Constitution continues, “Done in convention by the unanimous consent of the states present the seventeenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty-seven …” Saying “in the year of our Lord” was not a trite statement back then.

Our forefathers revered the Bible and the sacred inspiration that guided them. Merry Christmas!
