Hydro Racing Adds CdA To Circuit

The Diamond Cup Regatta in Coeur d’Alene is on the H1 Unlimited Series race schedule this year. The hydroplane races will be held Labor Day weekend near the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course. Hydroplane racing in the Lake City ended in 1968. The original 3-mile course was near City Beach and Independence Point. Backers had hoped to revive hydro racing on the lake last summer but couldn’t secure sponsorships. H1 said Saturday it has received a deposit to add Coeur d’Alene as the eighth stop on the 2013 schedule, which includes Kennewick July 26-28 and Seattle Aug. 2-4/SR.
