Carpenters Union Picketing KMC
Spokeswoman Kim Anderson of Kootenai Medical Center tells Huckleberries that a carpenters union from Kent, Wash., is picketing the Coeur d’Alene hospital. Sez Kim: “They have targeted us because Kootenai has retained a construction contractor with whom they are in a dispute. As a public hospital, Kootenai follows Idaho Public Works statutes, and by law we are required to award construction contracts to the low-bid, qualified contractor.” Duane Rasmussen, who snapped this photo for Huckleberries, identified the men above as local union carpenters, from left, Brian Phillips of Coeur d’Alene, Daniel Kofstad of Coeur d’Alene and John Vanderpool of Rathdrum. - Related: The Inlander published a story re: the “shame game” that the carpenters union may be playing with Kootenai Medical Center today. Apparently, the carpenters union has pulled this tactic on other Inland Northwest businesses. Interesting Inlander story here.
Question: What do you make of this protest?
