Not much out there on Washington State — we did have our live chat yesterday and will have more later today on the blog and in tomorrow’s newspaper — though the Kitsap Sun does have this note that quotes Marquess Wilson’s high school coach as saying he thinks Fresno State is interested in Wilson. … Washington coach Lorenzo Romar spoke to the media yesterday, and said that Brock Motum might be the most versatile player in the conference. He gives a good explanation of what he means in the video here . The Huskies are trying to prove this week that they are progressing. Austin Seferian-Jenkins won’t play basketball against WSU on Saturday, or against anyone this season.
In Pac-12 basketball news … Arizona lost to Colorado last night. Right? Nope . Not with Pac-12 officials on the case. A buzzer-beating 3-point shot by Colorado was ruled not to have beaten the buzzer — decide for yourself — and the Wildcats escaped with a 92-83 win in overtime. … USC surprised Stanford , 71-69, in the teams’ Pac-12 opener . … UCLA continued its hot streak by taking a 79-65 win over California . … Utah is trying to shrug off its close loss to Arizona State in its Pac-12 opener.
In Pac-12 football news … Oregon jumped to an early lead and cruised to a 35-17 win over Kansas State in the Fiesta Bowl , a game that might have been Chip Kelly’s last as the Ducks’ coach . It certainly felt that way .
That’s all we have for now.
