Today, he tells what he learned about environmentalists from the experience, in a column for the Shoshone News Press: “So I wrote a series of stories for the Anchorage Times about the presence of this time-bomb in our own back-forty. And as any good, responsible, self-respecting ‘environmental reporter’ must do, I called up Greenpeace Alaska, and then the Greenpeace headquarters in Amsterdam. Surely, as the world’s most environmentally sensitive non-governmental agency, Greenpeace would have some research on Arctic haze. They had nothing.”
