Gun control a local issue

Criminals and the mentally ill are not going to heavily armed places like federal courthouses, gun clubs or police stations are they? How are these gun-free zones working out for us?

Columbine High School, Colorado (shootings occurred during the assault weapons ban and they had at least one community resource officer); Virginia Tech University, Virginia; Sandy Hook Elementary, Connecticut; and Aurora theater shooting, Colorado.

They are all at gun-free zones. If I was a teacher or administrator, I would want the option to have a concealed carry permit, would go to the gun range regularly, and abide by all laws to protect myself and students.

Let each school district decide how to deal with this. This should not be a political football and is not a federal issue. It is a local issue as each school district has different needs and wants.
