Chiefs seek week sweep
The Spokane Chiefs are attempting tonight to become the first Western Hockey League team with three wins over the Portland Winterhawks this season. The Chiefs and Winterhawks will drop the puck in 20 minutes at the Arena. Spokane (30-16-2-0) defeated Portland 5-2 on Monday at Portland and 5-4 in a shootout on Wednesday at the Arena. Portland (37-7-1-2) has lost four consecutive games after losing just once during November and December. Portland’s Troy Rutkowski will set a franchise record tonight with his 327th game, including 216 straight. Kevin Haupt (1994-99) held the record. Spokane and Portland will meet three more times during the regular season, all at Portland.
