FROM PULLMAN — We’re back in Pullman and ready to gear up for another week. But as is usual with Mondays during basketball season, there isn’t a ton of news. But there is, of course, enough to warrant a post, so read on.

A freelancer spoke with former Washington State forward Aron Baynes, who recently signed with the San Antonio Spurs, and filed this story for today’s newspaper. … The WSU women came back to beat Oregon State in overtime yesterday, 76-73, after trailing by six late. OSU probably isn’t too upset to be leaving the state of Washington: earlier this week, the Beavers lost in OT at UW after Kristi Kingma was fouled shooting a 3-pointer in the final seconds and made all three free throws to send the game to overtime. … WSU’s first opponent this week, Arizona State, doesn’t stop playing until the buzzer sounds.
Around the Pac-12 … It wasn’t a happy Sunday at the Hunstman Center last night, as Stanford walloped Utah, 87-56, a loss that felt like last season for the Utes. … Colorado jumped on California early and managed to close the Bears out in an 81-71 win in Boulder. The loss had Cal coach Mike Montgomery questioning his team’s mindset . … A few Arizona players had reason to feel good in the Wildcats’ blowout win over USC on Saturday. … Oregon’s coach was pleased with the fan support on Saturday. … By the numbers with Oregon State, which may be reeling after its loss to WSU.
