Put women in command

Sexual assault in the military is an epidemic that has been ignored for far too long. According to a report in Newsweek in 2011, women in the military were more likely to be assaulted by a fellow soldier than killed in combat. Our brave female soldiers need to not only fear the enemy on the battlefield, but also the comrade in the barracks.

In the past two weeks, it has been reported that three officers in charge of sexual assault prevention units have themselves been charged with this crime. I have an idea. Why don’t we put women in charge of these units and in charge of investigating and prosecuting these cases? Seems like a no-brainer.

The “boys will be boys” mentality will not deliver justice.
