Olynyk honored as WCC player of year

Gonzaga junior forward Kelly Olynyk has been named WCC player of the year, the conference announced Tuesday.

Olynyk, who is averaging 19.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in conference, becomes the 11th Gonzaga player to be selected WCC player of the year.

Mark Few was named WCC coach of the year for the ninth time in his career.

Senior Mike Hart was selected defensive player of the year. Pepperdine freshman Stacy Davis was named newcomer of the year.

Elias Harris and Kevin Pangos joined Olynyk on the All-WCC first team. Gary Bell Jr. was honorable mention. Przemek Karnowski was selected to the All-Freshman team.
