County GOP Cancels Special Meeting
Neil Oliver, chairman of the Kootenai County GOP Central Committee, has canceled a special meeting that had been called for next Tuesday. The local GOP will submit three names to the county commissioners to fill the vacancy that will occur when Treasurer Tom Malzahn retires from office this spring. Oliver emailed his explanation to precinct committee members:
I have been contacted by several Precinct Committeemen regarding the special meeting planned for March 12, 2013. These individuals related to me their concerns about issues they felt strongly about. With great consideration, I have come to the determination that I will have to postpone the special meeting until after our next regular meeting scheduled for March 26, 2013. Some of the concerns stated to me involved time constraints introduced by the short notice of the upcoming meeting; that there is insufficient time to understand the Treasurer’s responsibilities and prepare appropriate questions. Also, there was concern that the short notice would limit the number of PC’s available to attend this critical meeting. I want to take this opportunity to extend an apology to those who have already changed their schedule to meet the now postponed special meeting date.I am still working with others on their concerns and will be setting a new date for this special meeting soon.
