A wild end to the weekend

COUGARS

FROM PULLMAN — Mondays during basketball season typically don’t bring much news. But there’s an odd story developing that involves a Pac-12 team and an incident right here in Spokane. Read on.

As KREM first reported yesterday, witnesses have said a couple USC basketball players were involved in a fight late Saturday night in downtown Spokane. The Trojans lost to WSU, 76-51 (fixed), on Saturday afternoon, then spent the night in Spokane before flying home on Sunday. Here’s Thomas Clouse’s story in the S-R , as well as stories from the Los Angeles Times and the Orange County Register . … CougCenter reflects on the career of Brock Motum. … Percy Allen submits his picks for the Pac-12’s postseason awards. If I had a vote, I’d cast it for Allen Crabbe as player of the year, Jahii Carson for freshman of the year, Carrick Felix as most improved and Andre Roberson as defensive player of the year.

Around the Pac-12 … Utah is buying into what figures to be a prominent theme this week — that the Pac-12 tournament title is still up for grabs. … Colorado gets another crack at Oregon State in the tournament’s first round. … Arizona is waiting to find out who it plays on Thursday. … A breakdown of Arizona State’s game against Stanford. … Looking at Oregon State by the numbers . … Washington tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins was reportedly cited for a DUI on Saturday night.

That’s all for now.
