Why aid for immigrants?

It is my understanding that the government wants to raise taxes, make it so the seniors pay more for their Medicare premiums and/or drugs, while the Washington state House of Representatives has just passed a measure to give young illegal immigrants state college financial aid.

I would think that the illegal immigrants get much more than our poor here in the United States: i.e. housing, food stamps, medical and now an education.

Many of our kids would die to have state college financial aid. It just doesn’t make any sense to me, but then I am not so wealthy that any of this will never touch me.
