Charter Head: No Cause For Concern

In the May newsletter of Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy, principal Nicklay addresses Common Core:

” … the newly-adopted standards don’t tell us what or how to teach. The state has so far implemented only the math and language arts standards. If you take the time to read the standards, you will find nothing that dictates what materials or techniques teachers are to employ to get their students to proficiency. I encourage you to view the standards on the Department of Education’s website ( http://www.sde.idaho.gov/site/ICS/index.html) . Regardless of the source of the standards or the process by which they were adopted, there’s nothing in them to cause us concern. I’ll let you know if that changes.”
