Enforce current gun laws
A few weeks ago, I made the mistake of contacting Shawn Vestal about my views concerning gun control. I found him one-sided, stubborn and rude. Every time I tried to express my views, he interrupted me and would not let me finish a sentence. I finally thanked Vestal for his time and promised to never bother him again.
I wanted to share with him that we have many laws concerning gun control, they just are not enforced. For example, there’s a federal law for possession of a firearm or ammunition by a felon, fugitive or drug user. And possession means touching a gun – any gun, handgun, rifle or shotgun is punishable by a 10-year sentence, although rarely enforced. They should not be in a gun store or a gun show.
Other federal laws: 10 years for possession of a stolen firearm; 10 years for shipping or transport of a stolen firearm across state lines. There are dozens of laws already on the books that will cover any circumstance. Let’s use them, not add more in a knee-jerk reaction.
