“I grew up in this neighborhood,” said Mike Steele right, of Cannon Hill Industries, a demolition contractor, during the demolition of old homes in the Fort Grounds area of Coeur d’Alene on Thursday, Oct. 31. 2013. Cannon Hill Industries, a demolition company, tears down a rental house in the Fort Grounds neighborhood of Coeur d’Alene on Thursday. Two adjacent rentals on North Park Avenue will come down next week. The houses are owned by the Lake City Development Corporation, the city’s urban renewal agency, which is clearing the land near City Park for redevelopment in the Four Corners master plan process. Six remaining rental houses will be torn down eventually, though no dates have been set for that demolition. (SR photo: Kathy Plonka)
