Kunka Rejects Requests To Drop Out
Joe Kunka, the dark horse in the three-way race for Coeur d’Alene mayor, told Huckleberries a few minutes ago that he’s received dozens of phone calls asking him to drop out of the race. A conservative Republican he knows, named Bob, left a message on Friday, asking him to drop out and throw his support to Mary Souza. Kunka said the call hurt his feelings. But he didn’t give it a second thought because he intends to see his campaign through to the end tomorrow night. Kunka said some of the calls said his campaign was hurting both of his opposing candidates, Souza and Steve Widmyer. Souza is endorsed by the Reagan Republicans and Reclaim Coeur d’Alene. Widmyer by Balance North Idaho, local Realtors, police and fire associations and the Spokesman-Review. Kunka is unaffiliated. Some of the calls said specifically that he was hurting Souza’s chances to become mayor. None of the calls mentioned that he would help Widmyer by dropping out.
Question: Will Kunka pull more votes from Souza or Widmyer?
