BNI Turnout Made Difference

In a word, the lopsided victories scored by Balance North Idaho endorsed candidates in Coeur d’Alene can be summed up in one word: Turnout. Reagan Republican City Council candidates attracted almost the same votes in the 2013 and 2011 city elections — 3,219 to 3,490. In 2011, 3,490 votes was enough to propel Steve Adams to a lopsided victory over two contenders, with 56% of the vote. In 2011, 3409 was enough to gain Dan Gookin 54% of the vote and a 16-point victory over his closest challenger in a five-way race. On Tuesday, losing Reagan Republican endorses Chris Fillios (3464), Sharon Hebert (3238) and Noel Adam (3219) won only 39% to 42% of the vote. The turnout in 2011 was 6,299, compared to 8,407 this year, a gain of 2,108 voters. Obviously, Balance North Idaho did a better job of turning out voters for their candidates.
