Lightweights replaced Foley

It was disturbing to see Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ Oct. 27 guest column eulogizing Tom Foley. How much more fitting it would have been to have one of Foley’s multitudes of real friends or associates write about him.

McMorris Rodgers didn’t even have the courtesy to respond when she was asked to participate in the tribute to Foley this summer, but give her a chance to get her name in print and she’s right there.

The Republican machine in Washington, D.C., wanted followers, not leaders. So they went after Foley, big time. And the voters fell for their lies. So we got George Nethercutt and McMorris Rodgers.

I’ve yet to see even one thing they’ve brought to this area in 20 years in office. They can’t even begin to hold a candle to Foley’s contributions. They are lightweights; Foley was a champion of the people.
